~A Little Bit About Me~ |
 |
Well, this is me a couple of years ago. In the photo with me are my dogs. The big German Shepherd is Trooper. He has obsessive compulsive behavior. *L* He wont' stop spinning. The black dog is Sydney. She is three quarters German Shepherd and one quarter Akita. She is the oldest and knows all kinds of tricks. She and Aussie, the Australian Shepherd both know how to "bow to the queen". That's me. *L* I tell them to bow and they do. Cute huh? Then there is the little one. That's Buster the beagle. My gosh, had I only known what great dogs beagles were! He is so sweet and cute you just can't get mad at him when it takes ten times as long to get HIM to come inside as it does the other three.
I have been making dolls for quite some time now but most of my earlier dolls were country in nature. I really love the primitive look and as time goes on will be adding more and more primitive dolls to my sites. You can visit my other sites by clicking on the following links. Blackbeary Forest.com and Primitive Links.com.
I did not play with dolls a whole lot when I was a little girl but when I got started that was it! For years I made all of my dolls from patterns designed by other people. I designed my very first original doll in 1994 but it wasn't until 1998 that I started making original dolls from my own designs on a more regular basis. When you set out to do something you have never done before you sure do learn a lot. It's been a fun experience and I will always continue to learn and grow as I design.
Dolls are a wonderful way to cheer yourself up. I told a little bit of this story on the front page but I'll go into more detail here. I have a wonderful friend named Rhonda who lives a few minutes from me. She also makes dolls. Our styles are totally different but we learn from each other. I love country to extreme primitive type dolls. Not TOO primitive but pretty darn old looking primitive. We like to go to antique malls together. One day we were out antiquing at one of our favorite places. I found this primitive black doll in one of the booths. It was so ugly you had to love it. Well, I did anyway. She hated it. *L* And she didn't hesitate to tell me either. I took it to where she was looking around and showed her the doll. She just stared at me at first. *L* I can tell the minute she doesn't like something I show her. She either says "that's nice" in that voice you know is just being nice or she says "that's nice" as she is looking right past me at something that interest her more. Today was "You gotta be kidding me!". *L* I made several attempts to convince her how wonderful this doll was but she wasn't having any part of it. I didn't buy the doll (I kind of wish I had now just to torment Rhonda with it) but it was fun joking about it all day.
I love the artwork of other designers. It shows you how different we all are and how different we all think. You can give the same pattern to 5 different artist and you will wind up with the same doll but they won't all look alike. The same artist can't even make the same doll exactly the same twice without a lot of effort and I'm not sure THAT can be done.
I hope you enjoy Primitive-Dolls.com. Come back now and then and see if anything new is going on. Thank you for stopping by.
